Since the world is upside down, obviously also my art practise changed quiet a lot. There are no commissions, no exhibitions, no teaching, etcetera. So, my days in the studio are entirely filled with the development of my new work Biophilia.
Although I’ve already been working on this project for quite some time, at this moment Biophilia seems more relevant than ever: Biophilia is about our distorted relationship with nature. Therefor I’ve decided to join Artist Support Pledge and I can already offer you three photographs of this new work for a special price and size.
Biophilia (which in Greek literally means love of life) refers to man’s innate attraction to nature. Connectedness with nature is a primal need of man. We have always tried to integrate nature-inspired elements into our immediate environment, but in recent years you can say that there has been a hype. With Biophilia I investigate the paradoxes inherent in our behaviour regarding nature and especially in the way we design our environment.
#artistsupportpledge is a simple, but genius initiative by artist Matthew Burrows to support artists during this pandemic by creating a new dynamic market. The concept is very easy: artists are invited to sell work up to €200. Every time an artist makes €1000 in sales they then pledge to purchase the work of another artist for €200. There are no enforcements, it is a system based on the honesty and generosity of artistic communities at all levels.
I hope you like this idea as much as I do. Please have a look at the three different photographs I’m happy to offer you.
